Special prizes in memory
of Joyce Jillson
The
family
of Joyce Jillson, an actress, talk show host, astrologer, and
enthusiastic
tournament player who died in 2004, has donated $1,400 in special
prizes in her
memory. They are as follows:
- $400:
biggest rating gain by a female player (established ratings over 1000)
- $200:
biggest rating gain by a player under age 13 (established ratings over
1000)
- $200
and $100: two best tactical games
- $200
and $100: two best positional games
- $200:
best tactical game by a non-master
The
games will be judged by IM
Jeremy Silman, renowned author and teacher. We are grateful to
Joyce’s family
for giving the players something extra to aim for, in the best
tradition of the
American Open.
